Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science at Florida State University. My research group studies the role of the tropics in the global climate system by evaluating how tropical climate has varied in the past, and leveraging this information to improve our understanding of the modern climate system. Our work falls into two main research tracks: (1) developing new quantitative, high-resolution paleoclimate reconstructions from dynamically-important regions of the tropics, and (2) pairing these reconstructions with modern observations, dynamical theory, and numerical simulation of the climate system.
Our research is highly interdisciplinary, spanning the fields of oceanography, atmospheric science, and geochemistry. We utilize a wide variety of geochemical and computational tools to investigate how the short instrumental record can be enhanced with paleoclimate data to inform dynamical theory, establish test beds for climate models, and ultimately improve projections of future climate change. If you are interested in joining my lab, please reach out to me over e-mail with a brief description of your research interests and a CV (or a summary of past coursework and research). You can also find the description of any open positions in the Opportunities section of this website. |
